How to Set Up MyRide
Did you choose a mobile pass or smart card in your Cheddar Up signup? Please follow the appropriate directions below. Note, you can only use one or the other, not both.
Mobile Pass
To use the NECO Pass on your smartphone with the MyRide app: (PDF instructions in English and español)
MyRide app - Install or update through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store by searching for RTD MyRide.
Install and open the MyRide app on your smartphone.
If you already have the MyRide app installed on your smartphone, update to the most recent version.
MyRide account
Click on "Account" on the main app screen and create an account using the unique email address you provided in the Cheddar Up signup. You will receive an email link from RTD to verify your account setup. Click on the "Verify Account" button in this email.
If you already have a MyRide account using the email address you provided in the Cheddar Up signup, log in to your account.
Activate barcode (video instructions)
Click on "MyRide" on the main app screen.
Click on "Get started" in the "Your Active Tokens" section. If you have previously activated a token with an existing MyRide account, the "Get started" option will not be available, but you are all set and ready to be uploaded by a Neighborhood Coordinator after all your current tokens have expired.
Select "With a MyRide Barcode".
Enter a "Barcode Name" (this can be any name that is used for your reference only), select "I have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions" (after reading said Terms and Conditions), and click on "Create Barcode".
Select "I'll Add Funds later". You do not need to add any funds to use the NECO Pass.
Upload by Neighborhood Coordinator
A Neighborhood Coordinator will upload your info into the admin side of RTD's system and issue your pass (typically within a week).
After your pass is issued, you will receive a confirmation email (ignore the comment saying that your pass is valid through 2026; you’ll hear from us again in the fall regarding next year's pass), and the MyRide app main screen should show the green NecoPass label under the MyRide barcode when you are logged into your account. If the NecoPass label is not showing up after receiving the confirmation email, you may need to log out of your account and then log back in to refresh the app or update to the most recent app version. Once you see the green NecoPass label under the barcode, you can start using your NECO Pass mobile pass.
Remember to scan your MyRide Barcode when you board the bus or on the platform prior to boarding the train.
Smart Card
To use the NECO Pass with a smart card:
MyRide account
Go to RTD's MyRide web page.
Click on "Create an RTD MyRide Account Today".
Click on "Sign Up" in the upper right hand corner of the page. Depending on your browser device, it may be listed under "Menu".
Sign up using the unique email address you provided in the Cheddar Up signup.
You will receive an email link to verify your account setup. Click on the "Verify Account" button in this email.
Upload by Neighborhood Coordinator
A Neighborhood Coordinator will upload your info into the admin side of RTD's system (typically within a week).
Ignore the email you receive from RTD asking you to set up a mobile account and register a token.
Authorization form
A Neighborhood Coordinator will send you a signed paper authorization form.
You will have 30 days to take this form, photo ID, and current proof of residency to a RTD Sales Outlet during the business hours noted on the form to get your card while you wait. The downtown Boulder Station at 1800 14th Street is the closest sales outlet to Highland Park.
Email confirmation
After you receive your smart card, you will receive a confirmation email (ignore the comment saying that your pass is valid through 2026; you’ll hear from us again in the fall regarding next year's pass).
Remember to tap your smart card when you board the bus or on the platform prior to boarding the train.
